Well, good for you! You're getting an early start. As a high school student, all you need to d us focus on gettting into college. Your coursework in high school is not really relevant. But you could always do law-related clubs, activities that will look attractive to colleges. Law schools don't care what you did in high school.

When you get to college, try to get good grades and a high gpa. Law schools accpt ALL majors, so do whatever interests you. I majored in English, but I know many of my lawyer friends majored in Siciology, Psychology, Ploitical Science, Education, Finance, Chemistyr, Pre-Med and Music. Have you seen Legally Blonde???

As a college student, you need to do activites that tell the admissions folks at the law school what a wonderful person you are. Leadership, Scholarship and Service should be your focus. And maybe do a legal internship. When I was in law school I worked at a public defenders office and was surprised to learn that undergraduage college students could work there too (of course not doing the same work, but work nonetheless). THe same goes for district attorneys offices. Just make yourself look really good on paper.

Last but not least, you need to do as good as you can on the LSAT (Law School Aptitude Test). It's like the SATs for law school. Take a prep course. If you're curious, you can go to the bookstore (BArnes and Noble or Crown) and take a look at some of the practice exams. Kaplan has a good prep book as well as Princeton Review.

While in college, try to build a relationship with a few people who can write you a good letter of recommendation. That is important too.

Here are the links to give you ALL the informaiton you will need with regards to the whole process. CHeck it out in advance. Also, consider visiting a law school and taking a tour. When I worked in the admissions office at my law school, we had a high school student come in and he took a tour and asked tons of quesions. And keep in mind, the people you meet there may be the ones to read your application, so put your best foot forward. Also if you'd like you can go to the law school websites and call or email to request an application packet. That way you can learn about the schools now. It's never to early! If this is your dream, then go for it. Everyone told me not to do it and that it was so hard, and now they all brag about being my friend or family member.

In high school you'll need Civics, Political science and sociology along with history english and if available Latin.
In College you'll need all you prerequisites, along with criminal Justice courses that takes a couple of years then you'll transfer to a university or law course the time it takes can very depending on the type of law you want to practice

always an opinion
You need to talk to your guidance councilor right away. You need to determine what college you want to go to and what law school you want to go to. You will have to get very good grades.

The best training for law is philosophy.

Aside from that, study everything. Lawyers don't practice law in a vacuum; law is always applied to a real-world situation, so you have to learn about the world. Anything and everything.

For learning critical reasoning and logic and argument, any rigorous academic discipline will give you practice at that (but not as much as philosophy will).

Also, most lawyers are not very smart (sad, but true; but some are), so anyone who really wants to can become a lawyer. But study hard and be one of the smart ones!
