How do you get along with a complete B!T@H at work????

I work with this girl. She is 26 and I am 24. We work in a small office of only 9 people. I see myself as a good judge of character and from day one I could tell this girl had an "all about me attitude". Well, I was right. She got mad at me one day b/c I change my lunch time to an earlier time, so she moved hers up into my space and then I ended up not going early. So, she said I ruined her lunch plans that day and has not spoken to me since. This was like 3 months ago. When I approached my supervisor about it, she told me that this girl was just trying to see how far she could push me. WHAT?! Nothing has been done. This girl acts like she is my supervisor and shes not. And she has pulled crap like this with everyone in the office. Shes ALWAYS talking about someone behind their backs and shes the most racist person I know. I want to leave b/c of her, but then again, I don't want her to feel like shes "WON". I know I should ignore her, but its hard to in such a small office. Any suggs?

I do tell my supervisor when she does things as my supervisor asked to be told when she does. However, this girl has been here 2.5 years and has never been written up, so I don't think that firing is in the near future....I just don't know what to do!!! I'm frustrated!

I always get stuck with people like that. just make sure you tell your supervisor every time she does something wrong and make sure others due as well and maybe if enough people complain she will get written up or better yet fired!

I also had a similar problem with 2 guys, a few years ago, in a real estate agency
They were always talking on my back, and they were always provocking me with bad ways of staring at me, they were smoking in the office, they were always spying me,etc ...And I suspected them of having robbed some of my contacts ( new customers , who called the office when I was outside ).

We had some terrible quarells,and they insulted me with bad words, saying me " dirty white @sshole " ( they were both young black guys ), and we nearly had some real fights ( I mean, " violence"). I think they were racist and stupid, but our boss always used to tell us " come on, guys, calm down, you are not kids ", and then everything apparently calmed down. But that always began again and again, I was really fed up and tired. The problem also was that my boss accepted that situation just because these 2 guys were quite good at finding new homes and at negotiating prices with the home buyers. That's why my boss didn't do anything.
Finally I just threatened one of the guys : " Stop it, otehrwise I will call your wife and tell her that you cheat on her with other women ". I had no other alternative, even though it was not really fair.
Finally they calmed down, and anyway I managed to get another job location , in same company, and I earned much more. And they were quite jealous when they learned that my business was going much better than their one...

Just have a talk with her, and try to use some psychology, and maybe she will change her dirty attitude.

What I would do:

Continue to ignore her just as she has ignored me

Don't talk about her behind her back

Inform your supervisor of every inappropriate thing she says or does

That is really all you can do. Don't quit because of someone else, please!!

I had a person just like this at one of my jobs. She was fully convinced she was my boss, even though I had a higher rank.

On my last day she came to me and asked me to change my schedule for the next week. I looked at her and said, "I will not be working here that day. I have quit." She asked me if I wasn't going to give notice. I told her I did. "I gave notice to my BOSS and my boss' boss."

Rather than being pleased to be rid of me, she was shocked. Shocked to find that my boss or nobody else thought she was important enough to be told that I was leaving and now she was stuck with a problem knowing full well she couldn't fix it without me.

It is tough when you are a w-2er, you can get stuck with really irritating people and have no power to do anything gratifying to resolve the problem. I have run my own business and it is cool because if someone acts like an *** I make them deeply regret it. Look into self-employment.

something about you must be bugging her.
she wants to be the boss-you dont have to humor her-could you talk to her about your anxiety?tell her she is not being mature etc......how do you feel she will react if you are friendly?
