How do you know if your job qualify you for unemployment?
Find answers to your legal question.

How do you know if your job qualify you for unemployment?

what to look for in your check subs?

If you were hired as a temp, would you still receive unemployment benefits?

Shane
Yes. You are still eligible to receive unemployment as a temp even if it was through an agency, but beware since temp agencies are notorious for contesting unemployment insurance. It varies how they list this deduction on your paystub, but I can assure you it is being deducted. Depending on your state you must have worked within the last 18 months a minimum of 26 weeks to be eligible (does not have to be consecutive. Could be 3 weeks here and 4 weeks there as long within 18 month period.) Just apply and you would receive your first payment with 7 to 8 days. In the event payments stop it means you have been denied for some reason and you need to contact them directly to find what the cause was and begin your dispute for reinstatement of the benefit.

How do you know if your job qualify you for unemployment?
FILE............

the only way to know for sure is to file and if need be go through the appeal process. unemployment uses "guidelines" to determine eligibility not "rules". if you have been employed long enough, had enough income in your base year, lost your job through no fault of your own
(quit, fired, laid-off it does not matter; it is a matter of the "cause" for that decision)
then you will probably qualify but you have to file to find out.

the only certain thing about unemployment insurance is nothing is certain until the process is completed.

It really depends on how long you've been with the agencies. To receive benefits, you have to earn a certain amount of credits last year. It also depends on the reason why you were terminated.

Your unemployment must be payed to you if you are laid off from work, your job closes and in some cases you are fired. Your unemployment eligibility will be based on the last three quarters you worked prior to being laid off or for whatever reason you are asking for unemployment. So even if you are eligible because of the way you lost your job but have not work three full quarters prior to loosing your job you will still not be eligible.

no, unless it was less than 23 hours, i think, phone your local job centre.

Rule of thumb is were you fired? If so, probably not..

Temp? That is not a regular job where you have a salary and, therefore, you will not be qualified for unemployment. One reason many firms get workers from temporary agencies is because their insurance and unemployment liability is not there.

Does your ex employer pay insurance for unemployment? Most firms who hire and pay a set wage, take deductions for IRS and Social Security do pay for the insurance and if you are laid off for reasons such as Staff reduction, or the employer goes out of business, you are qualified for unemployement.

Mainly, misconduct will almost certainly render one inelligible for unemployment.
