Phone up and tell them. You also have to fill in the form at the front of your signing on booklet. Yeah they'll be pissed cos you left it so late!

k
You have to actually go in and see them. And show them the letter you got offering you the job.

All you have to do is return your signing card giving details of your new job, start date and how long you expect the job to last. You can hand it in or return it by post.

Make sure you sign your card as you are making your last declaration like you normally sign on your attendance day. If it's not signed it will be returned to you.

The book must be returned, as this is the instruction to the Jobcentre to close your claim.

If you do not return your book then when you were next due to sign you will be treated as failing to sign and your claim will be closed from the last day you did attend the office and you may loose money.

Example

You last signed on 1/10/2008 - Next signing would be 15/10/2008.

You start work on 10/10/2008.

If your signing book is returned you will be paid to 9/10/2008

If you don’t return your book - on 15/10/2008 when you don’t sign your claim will be closed from 1/10/2008 and you will lose the payment from 2/10/08-9/10/08 and if you had been signing for over six months you would also loose potential entitlement to Job Grant, Housing Benefit Run On and Council Tax Run On.
