Each State has different requirements to become a process server. In California for example one must be a resident of the state for at least one year prior to registration, not be convicted of a felony and go through a background check. You need to obtain a $2000.00 process server bond and obtain a "live scan" of your fingerprints so a background check can be performed. A good process server can make anywhere from 40-100+ K per year depending upon their area and how hard they want to work. How often a server gets hired is dependent again on the area, what process serving agencies they work for and how much of a need there is for their services in a particular area.
