How extensive are criminal background checks?

How extensive are criminal background checks?

I have a misdemeanor from over 15 years ago. Will they find it? If they ask about convictions should I tell them or not?
Additional Details
Since then I've had no problems. Clean driving record, good credit rating, etc.

Employers only go back 7 years when conducting a back ground check, unless your applying for a government job and or high security organization.

IF I WERE YOU I WOULD CONDUCT MY OWN BACKGROUND CHECK ON MYSELF SO THAT YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU HAVE ON RECORDS. It is very easy to do.

This way you can decide whether to disclose your misdemeanor. The rule of thumb is to disclose your convictions.

Most companies only go back 7 years maximum. Even if they did do a more indepth search, a misdemeanor from 15 years ago will not show up.

A search is done to look for felony convictions. The application should read "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?" so if you answer no it is not a lie.

Good luck!

Yes be honest from the start. They will find it. It never goes away.

Honestly, a misdemeanor 15 years ago will more than likely not show up.

You should pay for a background check beforehand to make sure.

I have a website for ya, they charge $18.

These days they go way back so you are better off telling them. Or see a lawyer about getting it expunged.
