How far in advance do I need to give notice for a leave of absence at work?

I just recently got engaged and have to leave with my fiancee to the other side of the US to plan a wedding. She has to leave in two weeks and I have to leave with her (never mind the why's). I'm just a laborer, so it's not like the company will hit a downfall if I leave. Can I only give two weeks notice for that or is that definitely a no-go?

it is completely up to your employer to grant a leave of absence, there is no legal requiremnet from them to do so |

Your employer isn't required to give you a leave of absense. They can tell you that if you aren't available for work, you have to quit.
I'd talk to them as soon as possible and find out if they are willing to give you a leave. It's more likely that they'll tell you that you'd have to quit, and if they have an opening later when you want to come back, they'll consider rehiring you. |

It depends on their policy usually it is recommended 30 days from the time of the leave commencing.
If you have been at the company for a while you can check to see if the have a LOA policy. They might just tell you to resign and apply when you get back. It depends on the length of time you have with the company, the reason why you have to go and the company's policy. |
