it depends they can go all the way back to the day you turned 18. and in other cases they can get records from before you were 18 IE: you childhood recorders.
if you had convictions before you were 18 you have to file papers to have them removed when your 18 this is done in court and some times the court will say they must stay on.
so the best bet is to be honest to start with . |

They can go back to 18, but most are only concerned with the last seven years. It may depend upon the crime in question and the job being sought. |

Normally 7 years back, unless your applying for a government position or a high risk company they can go back further. Today because of the internet it's very easy to do a criminal back ground check.

Depends on the organization and position you are applying for. At my last position we went back 7 years for desk positions and for positions that had a bit more responsibility we went back 10 years. For executive level positions they actually go as far back as 20 years. |
