How much notice do I have to give without a contract?

I'm 17 and working in the UK. I'm considering leaving my part-time job but I'm not sure how much notice I'll have to give to my employer. I haven't been given an official contract to sign yet and I've been working there since November. My colleagues who have been given contracts say that it states in the contract that employees have to give two weeks notice, but am I right in thinking that I don't have to give this much notice?

If you don't have a contract which defines the notice period then you need to be reasonable and give as much notice as possible but you are not legally obliged to give any notice.

Not in the U.K.,but generally you do not have to give any notice at all if you are not under contract.
The 2 week notice is a custom of courtesy to the employer so that they can have time to find a replacement for you.

Even if you don't have to. Its always good to give 2 weeks notice in case you want to use them for a job application later on, or like if its something of an emergency that your leaving tell them as soon as you can. My dad never did when he left the last job he worked at like 10 years ago.

.
you dont have to give any notice but u should just work your'e 2 weeks, but if ure desperate to leave then u can as you dont have a contract.
