How much trouble would I get in if...?

If I applied for unemployment benefits and kept attending college full time, but did not tell them that I'm attending college when I apply, what will happen if they find out? The reason I'm asking is because I cannot find a job right now with this economy and I don't want to quit school just so I can claim unemployment. Its ridiculous they won't let college students do this. So what will happen if I lie and they find out?

I was taking online classes before I was laid off and I did not report it to the Unemployment system because it did not impact my ability to take any job for which I was qualified. If you are taking classroom classes, the classes could interfere with your ability to go to job interviews or accept a job for which you otherwise are qualified. If you are found out you will be expected to repay all the unemployment benefits you have received and there could be criminal charges. Talk to your state unemployment agency, they may be able to help.

Honesty is usually the better choice in the long run.

well, I'm not sure about attending school, (which they ask on your cards every other week), but I found out that because I don't have a babysitter waiting by the phone, I do not qualify.
So, your best bet is to be honest, and ask.

Good Luck

I'm not sure how the restrictions are in your state, but I am unaware of a restriction of college students being able to claim unemployment. Especially if you were a full time student while employed, and now you are unemployed, you are still willing and able to accept a job.

looking for a job is hard, especially if it's months since you previously did it! I was jobless recently, but I found the site in the box below which is very helpful in so many ways. By following their helpful advice, in a few weeks I soon got myself a job.
