Their power and their income depend on their skills. The most powerful lawyers (debatably) are those in the house and senate ... the lawmakers. You still have to follow the rules, but you get to write your own!! How cool is that?!
There are a lot of things to consider ...
To become a lawyer at all you need to have smashing grades, an unstoppable work ethic, and a tolerance for an awful lot of tedious work and verbal abuse. Oh, and money, as law school is expensive.
To become a powerful lawyer, you need to know the right people (as with anything), you need to have major drive and serious ego, and you have to be willing to pay your dues.
To make serious money as a lawyer, see above. Also, you have to be in the upper echelon of a firm, which means you have to start your own AND have it be successful, or work your way into partner status at an existing firm. Both of the above are major feats.
If you're serious about becoming a big player as an attorney, may I recommend finding a niche - AND be GOOD at it!! Choose a subspecialty that not many people choose, or one for which there is a growing demand and inadequate supply. Another way to make a big name for yourself is work for a specialty firm - I have a guy friend who is going through a divorce, and he hired a family law firm which only represents men. It's easy to represent women in divorce cases, as they usually get preferential treatment under the law ... so the attorneys at the above-mentioned firm are seriously hard-core cats. You have to be able to hang with that kind of club, but if you feel like you've got the grit it takes, go for it and good luck! |

They have all the regular powers, you know flight, x ray vision, super speed etc. But on top of that they work long hours in a competitive industry with few holidays. |

There are lawyers who make millions, and there are lawyers who make no more than other college educated people.
The lawyers who make millions are probably extremely talented; are willing to work evenings, weekends and vacations; and may end up defending people or companies they don't especially believe in. |

All lawyers aren't rich. They are relatively well off, but not mansion-ferrari-summer house-rich. Maybe if you become a partner, which takes years and years. And for that, you actually have to be smart. Trust me--I'm interning in a law firm right now, and It's not all its cut out to be. Start a business or something |

And as for income - there is a surgeon who lives across from us - she makes about $800k-$900k/year. |
