How would the law stand on this?

If your employer wants you to train in another country and you have to be away from ur wife and kids and not be paid xtra time for the time you have to spend in the hotel and flying? I think its wrong to expect anyone give their free time up to work without being paid

fair enough could quit buthave been with this company for 7 years and theyve only decided to do this, it wasnt in the job description. have mortgage to pay for cant just leave job

It's probably morally wrong but not illegal, unless you have a specific clause in your contract stating that you will be paid for working away from home

Normally, they just pay for your expenses - hotel, travel, food, business related expenses, etc. they will pay you as usual with your salary, but they will not pay you extra for the other 16 hours of the day (assuming you have an 8 hour workdays) because they have taken you away from your family. if there is something in your contract that says they will pay you for some of the other hours of the day then yes - but this is very unlikely.

Don't accept the train you family need you more and because if you will be train you need to be free from paying your bills

It is not against the law for an employer to send an employee out of town for training. The wife, kids, mortgage do not figure into the law. It is also not illegal for the company to expect the employee to fly on what would normally be the employee's free time. As long as the employer is paying for the airline tickets and the hotel, it sounds like the employee is getting a paid for trip to another country where he will get company training. Nothing illegal.

I am not sure what you are saying insofar as pay. Do you mean he is being sent away for training and no salary at all? That makes absolutely no sense. Or are you saying he is not going to be paid for the time he spends in the hotel and flying? Your kidding right? You honestly expect to be paid for the time you spend in a hotel and flying? If they are sending you to be trained in another country you must be some high level employee and to smart to ask such a question, and you know darn well you will still receive your normal salary. In addition, I am also certain the company is picking up the tab on the travel. With this said... It must be the d*mb wife asking this question. Get over it wifey. He'll be back home soon enough and he doesn't have to be at home to continue paying the bills. I'm sure or I hope you know how to fill out a check.
