My husband quit his job and bought a company right before we had our first child. He has never wanted me to be an owner of the company. I work there full time. He has 100% of the shares. We now are a million dollar + a year company. It has always bothered me that I am not a owner. Should this bother me?

My husband is the brains of the company. I run the day to day operations. We bought the company with both of our money by getting a second mortgage and other funds.

It depends. Did he purchase the company with his own funds, or with money you had saved jointly? Are you equivalent partners in terms of position and workload - for example, he manages administration and sales, you handle the finances and inventory? Or is he the chief engineer and system architect while you process invoices?
If you are equivalent partners in terms of work scope and/or if the company was purchased with funds that you both provided, you should be an equal participant in the company's success. That means a title and ownership position commensurate with his.
More troublesome is why your husband doesn't want you to be too involved in the business at a top level. Is he hiding something? Is it a front for an illegal operation? Not to seem paranoid but you wouldn't be the first unsuspecting spouse to be surprised by what their spouse is up to. |

Thing to put you in A owner position even if you due not collect A dime from having your name involved with it.
having you as A owner or board member or part owner gives the Company more leverage to go after Gov. contracts
under the Minority Act. A minority owned or opperated company get the better contracts and Tax Breaks............
