I find it easier to find work on my own. No I'm not happy where I'm at, but it's work and I'm able to put food on the table. I don't think big company's realize exactly what someone such as myself goes through. I don't receive child support, I'm on my own. I'll be ok, it's a set back that I didn't see coming.

I'm sorry that you're going through this and I really empathize with you. Times are rough right about now. Unemployment is paid for by your previous employer. Depending on the cause for termination, unemployment compensation can be denied. I know a lady that was 'let go' by her employer and is going through the same thing. The employer saves money if they can come up with a reason to deny unemployment. A lot of companies are feeling the pain from our suffering economy and are trying to cut back any way they can. This means getting rid of employees and citing reasons to deny unemployment compensation. The unemployment office makes the determination, but it's based off of your previous employers comments and reason for termination. I'd check with human resources at your old job or follow-up with the unemployment office to find out what your old job is reporting.

Try to see if theres anything else you can apply for. Temporary Income support? One time emergency funding? Or maybe the govt. could get you a temporary job asap for now. Can you see if you can make an appointment to see someone and talk to them about your situation and they can help you figure out what they can do?
I have a 18month old son but Im not alone, I have a boyfriend (the father) as well and I know how hard that is to get by. So I could only imagine. There has got to be something they can help you with. |
