...I want to keep it informal. However, I do not believe that an informal stage will lead to it being taken seriously. Should I make a formal grievance? I just want to be left alone to get on with my job and do not want to be moved to another dept

Basically my work colleague came across and acted like a psycho claiming that he was doing an impression of me pulling faces and being offensive. when I calmly asked in what the problem was he became aggressive and was right in my face. All of this would be on video tape. however, it was awhile ago (but it has continued on his part). This is the evidence if I make a formal grievance although I do not know how far back security keep videos. without this proof I have nothing concrete! can I really be sacked for making a complaint?

Make a formal grievance. State the harassment made, the date of commission and the place where it happened. Include how the act has affected you personally and professionally. Forward the letter to your boss AND cc it to your HR. =) |

Than you need to make it formal. I'd tell the supervisor that if it happens one more time, you will make a formal complaint. If it falls on deaf ears again, file a complaint. You stand to get fired right now for complaining and have no paper trail so you might never win a Unemployment or grievance case. If you had everything documented, you would have a much better chance at keeping your job! Good luck! |

You haven't told what type of harassment is involved. Is it the joking kind, and teasing, that gets on your nerves? Or is the bully type? People only do this, because they think they can get away with it, against that specific person. We are all different. If, for example, I kept getting treated like, 2 things ARE going to happen. Perhaps 3. The police would be on their way, and it's going to get gorilla ugly real fast. I'd advise my supervisor, so he could dial 9-1, and just wait a second. |
