I'm concerned about a potentially misleading point on my resume. See details below?

The HR Dept for a company about to hire me has my resume. Two things on my resume concern me:
1) I put on my resume "Received award in 2006 for #1 Employee in excellent performance". Yes, I was indeed GIVEN this award in 2006. But it was for my performance in 2005. And I failed to mention in the resume that it was for my performance in 2005, and thus it might come off that I'd been awarded for my performance in 2006.
2) I provided sales figures that might be inaccurate by about $100k (7%). Although I did use the word "Approx."
Society for Human Resource Management reported that 96 percent of employers perform some sort of reference or background check. They're finding discrepancies not only in education attained but also in previous employment titles and dates, former job responsibilities and accomplishments, past salaries and other claims. If a job applicant is found out, they're usually terminated.
Does my resume have anything that gives grounds to not hire (or fire) me?

I don't think either item will be a deal breaker. If they have any questions, believe me, they'll ask you. Just be careful about putting figures on your resume. Your previous employer may have considerred that confidential info and doesn't want it to get out to competitors. |

Dude, it sounds to me like you're stressing over nothing.
Especially the first point you made, I doubt they care too much about the date. And the way you listed the reward is correct, you're *supposed* to list the year you recieved the reward
As for point #2, if you said "approximately" and it's a close number, then I doubt they'll make a huge deal if they even bother to check up on the actual figures. |

I don't think the date of the award really matters. I don't think the sales figures will matter for two reasons: 1--you did use the word approximate) 2--they probably won't check for that. Despite what the Society for Human Resource Management says, former employees are limited on what they can say about you to potential employer. |

The award date is not an issue, you stated the truth. You received the award in 2006.
As long as you put the work approximate on the resume you should be ok.
Most of the time they are looking for someone lying about positions or jobs, not rounding off a large sales figure. |

You're award may have been for 2005, but it was awarded in 2006, so that is okay.
If the figures are off, that's not as bad as you mentioned approximately. Though that is a huge difference. If they are told the correct figure then you can honestly say you made a mistake. Otherwise if you are going in for another interview, you can correct that. During the interview, simply say I noticed there was a slight error in my resume and the actual numbers were......... You should be fine though. |

The information given by you about the award received by you is factual. however , you can clarify at the time of your interview that the award is for your performance in the year 2005 and the same was received in the year 2006. I dont think that this is misleading.
You have given the sales figures in approximation so I dont think this also to be misleading.
Your resume , in my opinion, does not have anything which can be treated as a ground not to hire you . |
