If you are in the US....
the only thing that governs time off is the specific companies policies and any contract or agreement you began to work under. There is no law that can force a company to give 'time off' for a career or study leave.
Any other country I don't know about. |

Oh, wouldn't that be nice. Welcome to the working world - the answer is that unless you qualify for a legally-mandated leave (FMLA, disability, military, etc.), you are out of luck.
If your employer permits it, you may be eligible to:
-take an extended vacation
-quit and get rehired
-take a sabbatical (usually you must work for longer than 3 years to earn this)

no unfortunately there is no law that gives u the right for leave for school..but if you have been there for 3 n half years they should be able to work something out with u maybe working alot less hours or if u do quit on a good note they will let u come back after u feel u have the time..Good lucK!!! |

No. An employer is not legally obligated to give you anytime off unless it is for FMLA (in US). All paid or unpaid time off is at their discretion. Do you have vacation or flex or earned time off or sick leave you can take? Just be honest and talk to them. If it is for some type of training they may be all for it. |

There is no law entitling you to either.. if your employer lets you it's Ok
If you do it against their wishes , you're fired....
The only thing they have to give you is "military leave" |

If you are asking about a sabatical leave (which is what it sounds like) then you need to check your employee handbook to see if your company offers one. It is rare these days in the U.S. to find companies who will offer to hold a position for you and give you time off. There is no U.S. law or state law that allows employees to take off time for these reasons. FMLA is for medical conditions or to care for a newborn child so that would not apply to your situation. |
