I accepted a manager position but now I want to decline it.?

I accepted a manager position, but upon further review I would like to decline it.
I never signed a paper.
I was offered a different position and I got it, then they said they wanted to interview me for a manager position and I said yes.
Well I got the job.
THey called me last week to see if I wanted it, I said yes.
But now I don't want it.
Additional Details
I still want to work with the company in the regular position i was hired for initially.

Have you ever heard of "Buyer's Remorse"? It usually happens when a home buyer finally talks the seller into taking the price offered. The wonderful, perfect house becomes a major problem once the deal is made because the buyer starts looking at negatives.

You are having a form of the same thing. You got the manager job and now that inner voice is asking 'what about all those extra responsibilities? what happens if I fail? what about the extra work? what have I gotten myself into'.

STOP and give yourself a break. It sounds like the company thinks highly of you and your experience. Have some confidence in yourself and trust that this company would not stick you in a job where you would fail. It costs companies too much money and time to just fill job openings with anyone, they think you can make it and it sounds like this was not a hasty decision.

Will the job be a lot of work? Yes, all new jobs have that period of time where you don't even know where the washrooms are. Will it be a stretch for you? Any management job is. As a former manager of a large dept I know it is hard work. Is it worth it? Yes, the money is better, you get more experience to put on your resume, and managing is better than being managed. just tell them. but before you do that, Try the managers position first. Sounds as if you have cold feet. Thing of your future and the money on your pay checks. some people hate change. jump in and try it. You'll never go back to the old job.

contact the person that hired you asap, and let them know that you appreciate this job opportunity but at this moment you decline to take them up on this job offer but that you would like to stay with this company and all should be well. good luck with this
