well, most employers will see felon and your application or resume will be immediately tossed out. My sister is in charge of hiring new people at work and this is what they told her to do. So I am sorry to say, it may be a life of manual labor for you. But it really does matter on what you did, without that information, I can't help you much.

If you can afford the tuition, you can study any thing you want to study. I would recommend you first look at what kinds of skills you have, what interests you, and what would make you happy to get up and do every day. There are some good books on career interests. The book "what color is your parachute" is a classic one.

After you go through that, then look for what jobs are typical in that field, as well as major employers in your area.

Whether or not you will get hired as a felon depends on each company's policies and the type of crime you were convicted of. For example, it will be hard to get security clearance necessary for most government/department of defense jobs. I would call up the HR offices of the employers you are interested in and ask them what their policy is.

Alternately, if you are willing to work hard and take chances, you could start your own business.

Just because you're a felon doesn't mean you can't earn certain degrees, unless involved in law lol. But you can work at construction sites, scrapping yards, junk yards and other places.

Well you can get just about any degree...but i dont think you are allowed to work with children. Have you tried applying for warehouse jobs? They take people with felonies and misdeameanors

The whole point is : you get convicted you serv your time... you come out of prison and noone will hire you so most all convicts go back to crime and of course they go back to prison .. michigan prisons became a bussiness for michigan not a place to reform a person i was in prison and they dont do anything the prisoners run it all and they officers just watch and sit on there ass .. my belife is that once you serve yout time and do your parol you should only have the record for the max of 3 years and if you clean up your act then you get it removed... and as someone said noone will hire a felon and you can go to school and wasdte your time but i can assure you that you will still be in the same boat when you get all your schooling done NOONE WILL HIRE YOU best thing is to find some money and open your own bussiness and hire only people with a felony i did it until i became handicapped if you come to me for a job you better have a felony or i wouldnt hire you .. i had parole officers calling me to find people jobs with my company but as i say you are done with serving your time even when you come out of prison... good luck
