Unless you were fired for breaking some sort of law, then there shouldn't even be a question as to how or why you were let go. If you honestly don't know why you were let go, just answer that you were dismissed without any reason/explaination.
Good Luck!!!! |

Answer truthfully. Unless you were fired for theft you should be ok. |

I have several friends in law enforcement and most of them got there because I told them not to make the same mistake I did, and I will tell you the same.
Law Enforcement interviews are not like other kinds of interviews. Think of it this way, most jobs are looking for a good reason to hire you, Law Enforcement is looking for a good reason NOT to hire you. So they will ask you a lot of questions and if you give them an answer less than favorable they will burn you for it.
Don't lie if there is something on a record they can get easily. If you get caught in a lie that's it, game over. BUT if you did something 6 years ago that is only known by you and a few other people, don't say anything. NOT ONE word. You don't get any extra points for being upfront and honest.
As others have said why you were fired will determine if you should lie. But seeing as it was 6 years ago, so hopefully you were employed those 6 years they should not ask you questions based on that job unless you give them reason too. If it is on a official criminal record they will find out anyway so don't lie.
For anything else they will pretty much ask you "why did you leave that job?" Just say "they were downsizing" or "I was offered more money." Hopefully they will just move on.
Good luck |

If you were fired six years ago have you worked since then? If so and you had no problems, I cannot see that there would be a problem (unless you were fired for breaking some type of law) If the employer asks be truthful, but absolutely do not say anything bad or degrading about your former employer, frowned upon by prospective employers |

They cannot actually find out WHY you were fired. So, you can say that you were simply laid off.
Now, do not lie about the car insurance that you have or anything that they can prove. A position that long ago will not matter. Now, don't give too much information. Say that you left the position as it was not working out they way you expected. End of story. |

Without knowing why you were fired from the company it is difficult to give you an answer. If you were fired for stealing or harassment, it's going to be different than if you were late for work.
That said, it is how you frame the answer that is important. You want to own that fact that you were fired, and explain what you have done to remedy the situation in the future. |
