I am being sued by a former employer. ?

I was a mortgage broker and a client i did a loan for threatened to sue my former employer after I had already quit. To avoid a state audit, he paid out $10K to the client and now has served me papers trying to get it back.

My question is, what kind of attorney do i need to defend me on this??

You need a good litigation attorney, but it will probably cost you the 10 grand to pay him/her.

I would first start by looking at the errors and omissions coverage you had when you were a mortgage agent.

The type of lawyer depends partially on what they were trying to sue for and what your employer is trying to sue you for as well.

First meeting with lawyers is usually a free consultation. I would start with a real estate or litigation lawyer and go from there unless the suit gives you more of a clue which way to go.

Your employer also sounds like he is afraid of an audit which could play to your advantage. Bring it up with your lawyer.
