I am currently suspended from work and want to leave without notice due to a new job offer, what are the conse?

Additional Details
I have been suspended due to a couple of complaints from customers and neglecting a few projects at work. I have had some major personal problems and it has effected my work. This has now added to my problems and is making me ill.

I am sure your employer will welcome your resignation with open arms. I am sure they are currently speaking to their lawyer to figure out how they can dismiss you anyway.

However, if you are suspended it is likely that something serious has gone on, perhaps theft or something like that? If so, you will want to still attend any meetings to which you are summoned, as if you don't, you'll find that what would have been handled internally now becomes a police matter.

Your only problem is going to be if you ever need a reference from them as they could disclose the fact that you didn't give notice, but if you're suspended then that's obviously far more of a problem to have on your record.

A proper way to do this is to send in a letter of resignation. You only need to say you are resigning as of <date>. You do not need to give a reason.

You dont give much detail - If your suspension from the 1st employer was due to some serious professional misconduct and it has a bearing on your future ie you are a dodgy Dentist you had better resolve it.

If you have already been offered a job and are not dependent on references from the 1st employer and its only a question of signing on the dotted line.. well go for it.You have might give up certain things like any accrued Holiday pay/entitlements as you did not fulfill your conditions of Contract: A fresh start might be worth it.

Best Wishes

Tell them to stick it.

You'll lose holiday pay owing, but who cares you've got a new job to go to.

Just be careful about who you use as a reference, make sure it's someone you KNOW will give you a good one!

Well, I woud be nice about it. When you come out of suspension, I would go back to them and tell them you found a new job, and apologize for the convenience of your vacancy.

Dude is right though with losing the holiday pay, but if you found a new job that gives you another chance to begin all over again.

Just don't leave them on bad terms.

Sounds like you are going to be sacked anyway!!

Officially, whether on suspension or not, you still have to follow the company policy (your contract) regarding notice periods.
I am sure if you sent in your resignation and advised them you want to leave immediately they will not argue.

Of course when your new employer goes to them for a reference then you are likely to be bounced from that job as well.

If you have a job offer , you can take the new job without consequence . You are an employee not a slave.

If you got a new job offer while being suspended from your job they must not have checked your references. Most states you are an employee at will..which means your employer does not have to give you a reason for letting you go and you do not have to give them any notice ....but most employees do give notice as they need a reference. Just give your employer a note saying you are leaving and give them a date.
