I want to be a forensic scientist but thee are so many choices, that i dont know which one. If you know about and like the show C.S.I. Maimi, then you should know about Alex, the medical eximiner.She is the one I like and want to be.

If you want to be a medical examiner then you have to go to medical school and be a doctor first. Then specialize in pathology/forensic pathology.
You can also be a toxicologist which are the ones that quantitate or find drugs in the body fluids. No need for a doctor degree but a toxicologist is also a very involved degree.
If you want to be a criminalist/forensic scientist, which are the ones specialized in things like DNA, Arson investigation, drug analysis, firearms then you need to study either a Forensic Science degree or get a science degree in chemistry or biology and get a Masters in forensic science.
You can't do both things.
TV shows glorify the job and makes it look like you can do everything. Very few people are able to do that. You can train in a variety of things but not everything and be really good. In any case, most medical examiners only do the autopsies and then send the samples to the forensic lab. They will read the data and make the decisions according to data given but they don't analyze any samples. |

My college major was Criminal Justice and the program had a subfield called something like Forensic Science that students could specialize in. You can also look at a Chemistry or Biology major I suppose. |
