I have experience in Food&Beverage as a cook & management/supervisor/lead positions. I've also done some retail/cashier/sales. A couple of my past employers have gone out of bussiness, so it would be hard to verify my employment. I know I've had good rapport with my past employers.Unfortunately I've lost touch with my contact references. I was doing really well till I life hit rock bottom and I made some bad choices which caused me to be unemployed.I've probably worked 3 jobs in the past 6+yrs. or so. Part of that time was spent feeling sorry for myself and then 1yr4mos.in jail. So regardless of the work experience I do have, the huge gaps in my work history is frowned upon,and if they were to do a background check then that would just be even worse for me. So I've now been a stay at home mom to my 31/2yrold son,and he'll be going to school soon.So I'm trying to get back on the work field and I need help and advice on how to make this happen.So I can regain self confidence. I know that I am a hard worker and a fast learner and I am very passionate. I just need to be given a second chance to prove myself. Please Help me! Thank you you!

I'll give you two good options and one bad one
1st option look in the phone book for homeless shelters halfway houses soup kitchens thrift stores and other service providers and see if you can get a job with them. They work with people with difficult backgrounds so just be honest and up front with them.
2.Start a catering or house cleaning buisness write a good add post it on craigslist and get to work 99% of your clients are not going to run a backround check on you. and the income you make is yours to keep.
3.and this is the bad option go work for a temp/day labor service and make contacts that way. Lots of industries that use temp workers are looking for good people and at least you will get in and be able to make contacts.
Most any city has career help for people looking for jobs. Look in the yellow pages under career if that doesn't work go to the welfare/unemployment office and ask if they know of any agencies that help with employment. |

Dont give up. Continue to apply and be straight forward with your prospective employers. Dont minimize what has happened but dont let it beat you down. Show your willingness to start over and be positive. Sooner or later someone will see that you are worth giving a shot. |
