I got a problem at my work there is this one lady that talks byhind my back about me to my manangers & employe

this woman talk bad about me to my manager and then he also talks along with her but when i come around they stop talking, but the woman says sarcastic things meaning them toward me for example "well i'm not like some idiot" i feel like i have to have my guards up at all times like i'm being bullied. i try to ignore it but then she'll say sumthin smart to me and i'll say sumethin back and when i do the manager yells at me. and all i;m doin is defendin myself? what should a person do in a situation like this? plz help

Yea it is being bullied. Stand up for yourslef with confindence and intelect. No yelling, obviously not your style. But enough is enough. Ask her straight out, catch her off guard, is there something you feel I have done, if so I wish you would let me know so we can resolve it and be able to get back to a working relationship. She should feel stupid. Is she is in authority or a higher position? Is her/your boss have a higher person you can go to? If you don't get anywhere let your boss know youd tried to resolve it, but got knowhere and you would like to focus on work. Let him know you are concerned about the situation and need it to stop. Ask is there something or a reason that he may be aware of. Let him know you don't appreciate it nor do you think it is professional. If there is a problem you should be given the opportuinity to correct it, but someone needs to let me know. We are here to work not gossip. Let them know who's boss!! If he doesn't respond. Thank him for his time. It's possible they may feel a little humiliated. If not then move higher up. Put it in writing that way there is a record that you tried in a mature and professional way to resolve the matter. I had a superisor throw a pencil at me. I let her know calmly, it's a good thing it didn't hit me, and if you will let me know what you are upset about then maybe I can help! No I wasn't fired and she knew she couldn't pull that Sh.. on me.!

Have a meeting with her AND your manager and bring up her behavior as contributing to a hostile work environment, and DO NOT BACK DOWN. Tell them plainly that you want it to stop.

If you feel harrassed, your manager should know about it, and there should be a record of it bringing it to your manager. If nothing is done about it, go above the manager.

You hold the cards. You could get another job somewhere else, or you could hose the company you work for if they do nothing about her infantile behavior.

That is a difficult situation. Ideally you would be able to go to HR or your manager's manager to ask for help, but reality is that is more likely to make it worse.

I think you basically have 3 choices. You can talk to them about it to find out why they do it and see if they are willing to stop. You can live with it. Or you can find another job.

If you work for a large company, maybe you could try to transfer to a different team.

no matter where you work you will run into people like her. i would just ignore her and find other people to talk to. remember it's a job not a place to find friends. don't risk loosing your job for her.
