can they do this? i thought it was innocent until proven guilty!!! and i could at least understand if the charges were job realated (i'm looking for a banking job and the charges were not related to money/theft/fraud) but it was a simple misdemenor and there was no evidence and no case.
it's very frustrating to be repeated told "i am a perfect canidate but since i have a "criminal history" i can't be hired". it's not like i'm a 20 year ex-con (nothing wrong with that) but i was in the wrong place at the wrong time and now i feel like my family will suffer forever.

If you were arrested and the charges got dropped the arrest will still be on your record. Every time someone does a background check on you the arrest will show up. It will not say what happened or the outcome, just the arrest. The only thing that will take the arrest off is an expungement. You need to contact an attorney and for a fee he/she can get your record or arrest taken off. Like it was never there. |

Companies have a right to not hire someone if they have any indication that they are not a good person. The best way to avoid all of this is to go to work for yourself. Preferably something legal. |

if in fact the the charges were dropped - then you have no criminal record -
so how are the potential employers finding out about this??? if you're telling them - then stop, there is no need to tell them |

U should have your attorney or hire an attorney to get your record expunged which will clear it FOREVER therefore when a background check is done the arrest will no longer appear. Background checks will come back FOREVER CLEAN!!! :--)

You can be hired but you have to be honest about what happened and prove that you have changed. Even if you say you will do unpaid training or an unpaid internship, you may have to climb your way back up slowly but you will get there. |
