I got caught with marijuana... can I still go to law school?

I got caught with a small amount of marijuana 10 years ago as a minor, and was arrested. Recently I started looking into applying for law school, and apparently I must disclose any arrests, even as a minor. The school also wants a description of traffic offenses. I have had at least 4 in my lifetime, although the last one occurred between 3-5 years ago. Will these issues prevent me from being accepted? Should I even bother paying the application fee?

Misdemeanor possession of marijuana and a few traffic ticket is not going to prevent you from getting accepted to law school if you otherwise qualify. Go ahead and disclose.

The reason they even ask is to find out about your integrity as a person. Disclose everything and, of course, age and year of offense will be a determining factor. If you lie or do not disclose it a simple background check will find the offenses which, after all money spent on school, can get you debarred. Honesty is the best policy here. If you were caught stealing from a job, things like that, are more serious because trust becomes an issue. Being an idiot with some pot is not uncommon. Young and stupid is not a crime!! Plenty of lawyers smoke and defend smokers.
Good luck!

Yes, disclose everything. I would say it depends on whether marijuana possession is a felony or a misdemeanor in your state.

your record gets sealed when you turn 18...DONT put it back on record by telling anybody let alone a school!!!unless you were getting cleared for a job in intelligence, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT! everything else that they can find out about you since you were 18 then be honest.
