I was hired for permanent positions and then suddenly was let go saying i was seasonal but i was not. that got rectified by them keeping me on (they did not read my file properly). so because the schedule for the following week had been printed w/o me on it i went to a manager and she manually entered me in for the 22nd and 23rd of dec. and handwrote that down for me. then i go to work the week after and they said i did a no call no show for the 24th. to me it seems as if they just added me on and never informed me. they also claimed i did not clean well and several coachings took place but i was not around for those because it never took place there is also no documentation of there ever being a problem with my performance, attitude,etc.

if you are in the US and you do not have a contract then this is totally legal. even if the schedule was changed it is your responsibility to be there. schedule changes do not require notice or employee approval however making changes without notifying the employee is a poor way to run a business.
using progressive discipline (warnings, write-ups, counseling sessions etcetera) is not a requirement of law but again just a wise way to do business and help employees to improve in areas of poor performance.
being temporary or seasonal or permanent has no bearing on the legality of your termination.
if the employer did not have "cause" to terminate you and you meet the other criteria then you will qualify for unemployment insurance.

In most states without a union contract, you can be fired for any reason with the exception of it being due to your race, ethnicity, etc. So unfortunately, it would be legal. |
