To everyone above me. I don't think you are realizing the gravity of the situation. Its not as simple as paying off the price of wasted gas. If gasoline enters an engine that requires Diesel it will cause detonation and most likely ruin the engine of the car it was put in. Depending on the type of truck replacing the engine could be anywhere from 2 to 10k dollars. Its not just a "mistake". If the owner of the truck did not empty the tank immediately it was a very costly move.

I hope there is nothing for you to regret about the past now. Just forget the incident and try to move forward. It all happens in life and you cant be thinking of past and spoil your future. Take this as a lesson and try to be more careful in your future jobs. Unfortunately, your story does not hold true since the gas nozzle is not the same size as a diesel nozzle. They are not interchangeable. So, why are you making up this story, just to get us all riled up?

No, I wouldn't have fired you because it was an honest mistake, and if you really didn't know any better, theres not much more you could have done. Did your boss specifically tell you what type of gas to put in it? If he/she did, then I suppose it would be your fault, but if you weren't given any special instructions, I don't think I would have known any better either. I know how you feel though, because my boss fired my friend and I because we spilled a glass of apple juice on the kitchen floor, and we even cleaned it up lol...some people have sticks up their asses and don't understand that we are all human and make mistakes. I'm sorry, and good luck finding a new job!

one did the truck driver tell you it was a diesel, two did the fuel cap say diesel fuel only, three was the truck running. if the truck was running and it sounded like marbles in it it is a diesel. if the truck was off all u had to do is suping the gas out and put the fuel back in. and start it up. your boss is an idiot and he should have made you work the gas price off. fireing you was the easy way out for him sorry dude its been done before you probably will happen again . i know i did it when i was young
