Hoping someone knows if I have rights against losing my home and given time be able to pay off past due balance without losing my home because of my disability?

I really don't know but mortgage companies make a lot of money on late charges, etc. I understand they aren't too ready to compromise. I think there was a law just passed but not sure what it does to help out those with foreclosures looming. . .In Texas there are homestead rights but don't know where you are. . . |

sorry but you will not want to hear this, your disability only applies to workplace, if you signed a contract to pay for your home, then it must be paid if you were in a rental that would be a different story |

Your illness does not excuse you from the contract you signed when you bought your house. If you are unable to work, you may be eligible for welfare or disability payments and various other governmental services, but a debt is a debt. Unless you can show that you were mentally incompetent at the time of taking out the mortgage and buying the house, and you are willing to have that be a matter of public record, you will just be spinning your wheels. |
