I have a job interview tomorrow, but I am not enthusiastic about it- what should I do?
Find answers to your legal question.

I have a job interview tomorrow, but I am not enthusiastic about it- what should I do?

I am an unemployed paralegal. I have an interview with a large firm tomorrow. But I am not passionate about this interview nor the prospect of getting this job. I am trying to ask myself the important questions in order to perceive the truth about why I am indifferent.

I have only had two jobs in the legal field so far. But both have left me with a bad taste in my mouth. My first boss was a good man, but he was controlling and invalidated/belittled his workers (I know that doesn't square away, but he did have some really good qualities which we won't get into). Then my last boss...sheesh.

At first, the last job was idyllic. But my boss became progressively more verbally abusive. I was fired in January for something that wasn't even my fault. Seriously.

I have a chance to work with my Fiance cleaning houses, and building up a cleaning business. The work is not prestigious, and is physically hard.

What should I do?

Should I try for another paralegal job?

Thanks.

Don't waist you time and theirs...be honest always..

You shall know the truth
Sounds like you made up your mind to go into the cleaning business. I'd suggest give paralegal another shot. Go to the interview, be enthusiastic and ask any questions you have. In other words, give it your best shot.
You know cleaning business is there but give another chance to your profession with all your heart.
Keep in mind the bad experiences were for bad companies and bad management, this is a fresh company and fresh start.
Good luck

I can identify with your situation.

First, about the cleaning business. I've done this kind of thing for extra cash. I normally work in an office as a professional, but it doesn't always pay the bills. I can tell you that on most days, the work that felt most fulfilling and satisfying was the cleaning work. Something about working hard and seeing your work completed, is very satisfying. Also, if you do build a cleaning company, it will pay off fairly well. There will be headaches with having people work for you, that's your trade off.

Second, I've had experiences like that with companies that I've worked with. It's true that there are more companies that make it difficult to work with them, but there are some companies that are very good. You will be able to make the decision about that when you go on the interview. I tend to get a pretty good impression about a company, just on one visit. Pay attention to what's going on in the office. If possible, ask them for a tour...look at the people that are working...you can tell if they are stressed or at ease, if they have the support that they need and etc.

I say, try to go through the motions of going to the interview...you may get your inspiration as you go along.

If its still daytime - do it now, otherwise do it first thing tomorrow morning.

Ring the company you were to interview with -

Apologise for the short notice but tell them you are no longer available for the position but appreciated the opportunity.

Look for a job in another field - paralegal may not be for you. Try something completely different. Yo can always go back to legal stuff later on.

you have had two strikes at the paralegal route.....I would give it another shot.........if you have problems again.I would move to the house cleaning...........you can build up the business.............

You have answered the question yourself. IF YOU ARE NOT enthusiastic about any aspect of what you are interviewing for, don't waste your time or the company's time. Find that position that makes you want to go for it and put your all into the applicant process. I understand you may be in turmoil as to what your next step would be, but this would be a mistake for you, in my opinion.
