I have a lease that was used before and most of it was whited out. Is that Legal?

If you look at the copy that we have, there are a lot of spaces that are whited out and I don't know if that is legal at all.

Was it altered before or after you signed it? If you signed an altered document and knew it was altered, that's just sloppy on management's part but not illegal. If they altered it after you signed it and your copy says one thing and theirs says something else, that is illegal.

I had a job where I handled many legal forms for a township. I was NEVER allowed to white-out or cross-out anything, as it voided the document. I don't know if that is a state law or a law that pertains to certain documents, but it does not sound like a good idea to me. You should get a totally "clean" copy.
