I don't know. Everything seems legit to me.
Are they asking you for your social security number up front? That's definitely a bad sign. You don't have to give that until you're filling out your W-2/W-4 forms when you're hired. Are they asking you to pay anything? Not cool. Employers pay you--not the other way around!
Be wary, but don't miss a possible good opportunity by being job-shy! ;) |

It's not worth your time...although on the surface ;legit, it is nothing more than a grandiose pyramid scheme and you will wait months before you get any real money. I went through the beginning of it then quit. |

A friend and I looked into working for them a few years ago - we went to a meeting, met the CEO and everything. It's a glorified pyramid scheme, and although this company DOES operate legally, it is incredibly time consuming to make it work. Essentially, you have to sell the services to your friends and family, and hope to recruit them into the business and that they sell to THEIR friends and family... I know someone who did this in college and she was able to pay her rent with it, but it seemed a "bit sketch" as you said. My friend and I ended up not doing it. That's just my view of course, but I think there are probably better ways of paying your bills that don't involve pitching schemes to your friends and family. |

They are a real company, if they are a scam they would ask for things like your ss# and bank account information that they wouldn't need, unless you were filling out tax forms. You could always contact them and ask more information about their company and ask if you could speak to some of their current employees, it a reasonable request. |

Have you been through the interview process yet? If so, then how did the place feel to you?
If it's just someone contacting you, protect yourself by not giving out social security numbers, credit card numbers, bank accounts and such.
If they don't ask for any of that, then you should be okay to feel out the job. |

Depends on the job and depends on what pre-paid legal company contacted you -- there are lots of these companies now and more just starting.
As an attorney I have been contacted by certain pre-paid legal companies, some in my state and some far away. A few began the pitch by saying they wanted to hire me -- implying that they represented a firm that wanted my legal services. The other pitch was that they would "guarantee" me a certain amount of business and all I need to do is to sign up with them and pay monthly dues. I thought it was a scam and did not pursue it. These companies did not know me, they did not even know what type of law that I practice, if I was any good, or if I was an ethical attorney. They merely wanted to sign up a bunch of attorneys who would pay them.
If a company that you never heard of and never applied to, comes to you out of the blue and tries to hire you, be concerned. Hiring a person usually is a long process that is usually initiated by the person wanting to be hired. If your gut feeling is that something is not right -- your gut is probably right. |
