Get your law degree and specialize in appeals. That is all appellate lawyers do. I am an appellate lawyer and I love it! Another option is to get a law degree and work for West Publishing analyzing and summarizing new opinions when they are released by the courts. Both would pay over $40K/yr. Paralegal ideas are cool but most of them spend their time summarizing medical records, interviewing clients, doing investigations or analyzing and summarizing documents. Most lawyers do their own difficult motions and I don't let anyone touch my appellate briefs b/c the act of putting them together, of reading the record on appeal and learning the case and seeing it from a different perspective is what makes my arguments and my case good. Good luck. |

You can make $40,000 as paralegal, if you work overtime. You might be able to find employment without a degree in paralegal studies, otherwise you could go back to a community college to get an associate degree in that. I'm sure it would take you a year or less since you already have a BA.
Or there is always law school. |

Get a Paralegal Certificate from a college certified by your state's bar association. You can get a job with a private law firm, corporate law department, or government agency working as a paralegal. They generally start off around $40,000 to $50,000 depending on the city and they area of law you work in. Or, you could go to law school for 3 years and become an attorney. |

The ideal job for you would be as a Paralegal for a lawyer or law firm that does a lot of litigation. It would probably take a year or less of formal training and starting pay would be in line with your salary range, in your area. With 5-10 years experience, good paralegals in your area can make between 75K and 100K per year. |

Paralegal!
You would make at least that amount. If you get a paralegal certificate you have more options (look up online) but you can get one with the education you have now. |
