I have this 600 dollar keyboard.. I used to play but I was going through a crisis for a while so I wasn't playing at the time. My brother took the keyboard WITHOUT ASKING ME and brought it to his friend's house about 8 months ago, and it's still there. I have been asking for it back for a while now because I want to start playing again, but he is being stubborn about bringing it home. I really couldn't tell you why he's making such a big deal about it, but I think it's completely ridiculous. I've been patient up until last night when he said he was definitely bringing it and he never did. Now, I'm wondering, if I were to call the police, would they be able to make him give it back to me?
Additional Details
My parents tell him to get it all the time too.. But he is 20 years old and he doesn't listen to them either. I know, it's bad, but I just want to know where I stand when it comes to getting the police involved.

If you called the police....
They might charge your brother with theft. And might not, depending on a lot of other variables. This may or may not get teh keyboard back.
Over $600? I wonder if the hassle is worth it. |

You can definitely involve the police, cant hurt anything, other that feelings. Especially if you can show the police some sort of proof of ownership. If you have a receipt, or pictures of you playing it, that would be indisputable evidence and the police will retrieve your property. If not, file a suit in a small claims court. You should have no problem with the police |

if its your property it would be classed as theft so if you rang the police they would be able to get it back for you |

How old are you?
Do you and your brother still live with your parents? If so, I think it's definitely time to get them involved in this situation. They should make your brother go get your property and return it to you.
