I am a customer & member of staff at a uk bank. As a customer on 27th march i asked for an overdraft charge refunding. They responded with an electronic message saying this query would be dealt with by 4th April. I was due to be in work on 2nd & 3rd April but was off sick. They then sent me another message on the 3rd April saying this will be dealt with by 10th april (i am due in work next on 9th & 10th April). I think they are going to try and say i have been abusing my position as a member of staff to get bank charges back. This is a totally seperate issue, this is about me being treated as a customer and nothing to do with me being a member of staff, what are my rights?
I would just like to know where i stand so i am prepared when i return to work.

I am not on top form with the Law but as a customer you have a right to claim back charges whether you are an employee of the bank or not. If you are really concerned it may be worth checking with someone in the know to see what your rights as an employee are. Try citizens advice or call a solicitor for advise. Good Luck |

I believe that you should've gone to another member of staff to ask for your overdraft charges and not done it yourself. If you performed this action yourself, you were performing it as a staff member and not as a customer because you used your privilege as a staff member to try and get your fees refunded yourself. I certainly don't think it's an offense which is grounds for termination, but if anyone asks you might want to cop to knowing that you really shouldn't have tried to refund your charges yourself. |
