is there any law against that. now im scared to miss work again afraid of loosing my job. today i couldnt make it because of the 10+ inches of snow and i dont know whats going to happen to me. can i please have some answers or suggestions.

There is no Federal law and probably no state law that will protect you. To the contrary when it comes to work attendance, no matter the reason, the law is on the side of the employer. Unless you are a member of a union or have a written employment contract with the employer, the employer can make the rules. You should do all in your power to not miss work again.
It is a common practice for an employer to tell an employee that they have a number of days per years as personal days, but yet to complain when the employee takes all those days. It does not make any sense, but it is not illegal. To make matters worse if an employee is terminated for "excessive absenteeism" they may not be able to get unemployment benefits.
As for the snow, if there are a number of employees who did not come in, this may not be a problem. If your boss complains you can always offer to not get paid for today. Remember, as an at will employee you can be terminated for any reason except discrimination. |

No law against it. You missed the day of work without a pre approved vacation so you got written up.
You used your personal days so you could still get paid, but that doesn't mean you don't get written up for an unexpected absence.
With 10 inches of snow on the ground, today is an opportunity for you to either prove that you are the type of employee who will do whatever it takes to get to work, or you can prove that you are the type of employee who will look for any excuse to miss work. |

Unless you requested those personal days in writing before the fact, your supervisor can write you up-not illegal
Suggestion: in order to make up those days you've missed, ask if you could arrive earlier/leave later than your scheduled time, and/or work through lunch. Document, and request that he initial every day. At the end of the weeks, make a copy, give him one. If your supervisor agrees to this, ask him if by doing so your write-up would be destroyed. This way, you're showing some initiative and follow-up.
