I want to get my law degree ?

I would like to get my law degree after getting my CPA. I've almost passed all sections and plan to early this fall. I will begin working for a Big 4 firm in January. My problem is that in my state of licensure, there is a 2 year work requirement for an individual to be granted their CPA. However, I was wondering if I'm missing something or if one would be best advised to pass the cpa exams and go straight into law school or if I'd serve myself best career-wise if I work for 2-3 years for my firm, and then begin law school. I'm currently entering my mid 20s and if I defer law school another 2 or 3 years, plus the 3 years to complete, I'd likely be 30 by the time I'm done with it all. Is it worth it? is there a better way about things? Any suggestions, comments, or assistance in the matter would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The CPA / JD combo is a great revenue generator especially in the field of trust administration. Many attorneys are forced to outsource the accounting components of trust administration most of which have to be done yearly.

I think you and the other poster have hit on a good niche here and you should really pursue it. Beginning your law practice at 30 is fine. You can practice till the day you die, and that means at least 25-30 years full time and another 10 in semi retirement. You have plenty of time to make the money you invested into law school.

WARNING: Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!!!! This is NOT a good field to invest in right now!!! Reasons: We simply have too many attorneys right now (look in your phone book under "A"), very bad economy, today too many people (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work thanks to the WWWeb, we have WAY TOO MANY law schools today churning out WAY TOO MANY graduates for today's economy (and this includes for legal support professionals - but the law schools won't tell you this - law students are easy money!).

Suggestion: Go into the field of Healthcare - especially with your background! LOTS of good jobs there!!!

Good luck.
