i am so fascinated with the state of Georgia, i always wind up looking online @ job & real estate listings, dreaming about being out there & i WANT to go out there so much that i made reservations to bring my New Year in out there. i live in new york & i hate it out here. 5 yrs ago i relocated to Georgia but only lasted 3 months. i wasnt ready mentally. i didnt know anything about the south, didnt know i needed a car & i knew NO ONE. i got home sick, lonely, started crying alot & came back home. but i haven't been able to stop thinking about Georgia, how nice it is out there, the beautiful apartment i had, how quiet it was, the landscaping, and i want to go back. thing is, my RESUME is "jumpy". i dont have "job stability". in NY, for one reason or another, i lasted at jobs 8 months, 9 months, a year, year & a half, & right now i been at my current job for 3 months. i'm just keeping my head above water out here in NY, i really dont want to be here i want to go to Georgia. but i believe in Georgia they want job stability. now i'm thinking this will shoot down my chances of securing a job out there. especially since i just started my current job 3 months ago. i am a legal secretary. i have EXCELLENT skills. can anyone give me some advice on how to go about presenting myself so that i can secure a good job out there? i really want to go .......

Your job type is in hot demand. I would recommend that you first find a job, then relocate. As for where to look for a job, the Monster job site is a good one, look for any company that specializes in your type of work is another idea, JOBS USA is another good site, especially if you are interested in a government job. Every state has it's own site for posting job openings. For the Army, look up their civilian personnel site CPOL. Be honest in every thing that you put down on your resume. CPOL has an online resume writer which you must use. When dealing with any government agency, write out your resume as they want it done. If you don't, it will go into the round file. Before you move, come down and visit various areas. It would not hurt to visit businesses that use your type of work. First reason, you can take the trips off of your income tax return as a business trip, this is fully legal. Second, get to know the people. Visit the older establishments, especially those that are owned by individuals. Go to the churches, and talk to the Pastors there. Tell them what you desire. You will find help, and probably a lot of it. If you get away from the cities, out into the suburbs, and rural areas, you'll find a lot of nice people there. True, some of the more rural people may seem unfriendly at first, but you are new to them, and do not know you. Georgia is a nice state, but so is Alabama, South Carolina, rural Florida, or just about any where else in the south. Do your "home work" before trying to move. You never know, you might even walk into a lawyers office, find that you like the people, they like you, they are sure you are just the person that they need, and will ask you to come down right away.
