I was considering joining the LAPD and wanted to know something in regards to the background investigation they perform on you. The reason I am asking is because about 3 years ago I had a workers compensation for a back related injury and was wondering if that will disqualify me from being hired. Do I have to mention that to the background investigator, will they be able to find out?. Will the fact that I am in the Army National Guard now and that i went thru Basic Training and Advance Training just about a month ago, were you do all kind of physical exercise and running be something they will take into consideration as proof that I am fine again?. I am kind of confused and will really appreciate some guidance.

Background checks are for confirming citizenship, criminal record and employment. Your workers comp will not have anything to do with it and shouldn't even come up.

The fact that you're in the Guard will definitely help you. Former military always get top preference for PD jobs.
