Possibly. Many employers pay attention to past criminal convictions and wont hire you if there is anything on your record. But there are employers out there who are able to understand that people make mistakes in the past and that once they serve their time and deserve a second chance.
It comes down to the job application. Employers do background checks, if you lie on your application and your record revels a prior conviction your never going to get that job. Not because you had a prior, but because you lied about it. That shows dishonesty.
But if you fill out that you have had a prior conviction you might not get the job because employers are not willing to hire anyone with a prior.
If you can submit a resume and not an application. A resume is controlled by you. You do not need to put down any prior convictions, and if you are under no obligation to tell your employer about a prior unless you are asked about it. Because employers usually only check work history on resumes 10 years, it wont be an issue unless you say something about it. |

I think what is most important is what you have done since you left prison. If you can show a potential employer that you have turned your life around and that you are now a responsible member of society, you shouldn't have too hard a time finding a job. Ask two or three people who know you well and who can attest to your abilities and your good character -- your boss, your parole officer, etc. -- if they will provide references for you when you look for a new job. |

yes, alot of good paying jobs will not hire felons for liable reasons. this is were you need to do your homework as to what jobs will hire felons. if you were worried about a job you should have not placed yourself in that catagory in order to finding a better job. |

depends on your job field.
blue collar work shouldnt effect you too much..
its all about whos hiring, and if they'll hold it against you.
but you have a clean record for 15 years, so if your work since then reflects hardwork and good resume.. they wont care. |

it will depend on what the felony was, if you reoffended, if you complied with all that you had to do (time, probation, court appearances, fees, etc), and how you've been doing after this felony. if you have improved overall y ou might not have a problem. just be honest on your application and ask that you explain what happened and what you've done to improve your situation. dont be afraid to apply, but i think it will affect in certain areas you apply (example, if felony had to do with violence and you want to work with kids, etc... bad example, but cant think of anything else.
Good luck! and remember, be honest to your potential employer! |

Background checks especially depending on the type of position will only go back 10 years to check for any criminal past. I've used lexis/nexis and a number of other organizations to conduct our background checks. It never went further than the above noted time. |
