I was forced to quit my job- a resident manager at an apartment building...denied EI.?

Prior to leaving, I asked my boss if I could stay with the company, even in another position, if I bought a house and moved. My position did require for me to live on site. My boss said I could stay, he said they would find something for me. My husband and I bought a house and a few days later, my boss said, unfortunately, we cannot keep you, and forced me to quit.
I understand that a requirement of my job was to live on site, but my boss had told me that I could stay. Also, another requirement is that the resident managers have a valid driver's license and a car. I am aware of several resident managers that do not have either, so I think it is fair for me to believe that the rules could be changed for me too.
I have filed an appeal with EI, but I cannot find any similar cases to bring to my hearing....any thoughts?

If it had been a year later when he said sorry, we can't keep you, you'd have a reasonable chance, but since it was only a couple days, probably not. You can try an appeal though. |

Unless you have it writing from the boss saying you could move and keep your job, then you have not grounds. Life is not fair so get used to it. |
