The same thing happend to my daughter-in-law. I think it will be hard to prove that that was the reason they let you go. They can always say it was your work performance. Unless you had evaluations where you can prove there were no warnings or anything. Companies usually can afford a better lawyer and it's their word against yours.

Find yourself a lawyer specializing in labor law. But don't start counting the money yet. It will be extremely difficult to prove they terminated you due to your pregnancy.

Most states are "at will". You can be terminated for any reason, as long as it doesn't voilate discrimination laws, and they don't even have to give you a reason. They could very easily claim attitude problems or you didn't fit the team.

If you signed an "At will contract", then I don't think you are going to be able to sue. It's usually in the application that you would fill out for a job.

If they had an ad in the paper for your job BEFORE they found out you were pregnant, you'd have an impossible time trying to show that they fired you because you're pregnant. Think about it!

you should go in and speak with them and ask why they fired you... if they say that they didn't need you... ask why there were posters up for your job the same week they fired you... if they have no reason or give a stupid reason... get a lawyer and sue them... good luck

if they let you go and hire someone else for the exact same job, then they are in big trouble - if they truly did away with your job and are not hiring anyone to do the same work, then they did nothing wrong
