I work 36 hours per week, ive been cut down to 22, due to being late twice this week, is that legalally allowe?

ive been late twice this week due to road works, i travel 80 miles to work and 80 back, company pays for mileage. due to being late this week ive been cut from 36 hours to 22 and my time keeping was the reason given for my hours being cut, i was given no verbal warnings or written just chopped 14 hours, is it legal for my employer to do this?

if you are contracted to 36 hours or described as a full time member of staff then they are at breach of contract and can not do so

also if you are getting late to work then it should be delt with in a verbal then written warning then removal of the company if they wish

but not for the way you have stated i would tell them this but if they decide its staying like this then get in touch with citizen advice

Sorry mate, this is a back door way of saying cheerio ! If you are a valued employee give and take will apply,so you can see this is a way of getting rid of you, they are hoping you will jack your job in by cutting your hours.

Yes, Being on time is part of your job. Maybe you should think about working closer to home.

Bubbles
Why in the heck would you travel 80 miles to work? I would find a closer job period.

GeeCee
Did you draw up a contract or sign one?

bob t
What does your contract say. Surely once you knew about the road works didn't you take that into consideration for you journey's since.
