Find answers to your legal question.

IS IT true that many people just see & ignore violation of laws until it affects them directly & personally???

I am not commenting or blaming or imputing any group of people or any body but asking to know views of people.
IS it true that many times many people just see & ignore violation of laws by others until it affects them directly & personally????
IS it true that even many times many of them also ignore ill behaviour & wrong done with them; they don't take pains & don't go so long to get the justice ; they just try to forget or avoid the wrongs????
IF yes, what are the reasons of such ignorant & wrongful compromising behavior????
What do u all think about it?
Want to know your views ; by the way I live in India.

It depends on the stringency and the reach of the law and if you can work around it. In India you can get anything done by paying your way out of it. Salman Khan, Navjot Sidhu and Narendra Modi are high profile murderers who are extremely successful in life. At the local level, the slum dwellers who steal your power, water and living space are offered protection by local gangsters-***-politicians and live their life without qualms.

When we live in a country where the law is not respected, neither by a majority of its citizens, nor by those who enforce it, we lose faith in it, and begin to mind just our own business.

Look at China for example. The guy who took a bribe that lead to China's image being tarnished in the world was actually executed. That sets a terrible precedent to all those bribe takers and givers.

You can't cheat the IRS in US the way accountants and corporations in India, from Reliance to your neighborhood baniya pay no taxes by claiming they had a loss this year, when they have just purchased a $100,000 house in an expensive neighborhood.

To cheat the public in the United States, they have a formal mechanism. They call it lobbying and only the big guys like Haliburton can do it. And that, they do effectively. Look at healthcare for example. Trust me, watch movies like Sicko.

Why do you think Drunk Driving is still only a misdemeanor and not a felon. People do it whether it's a few drinks or completely sloshed -- people do it.

They only want to the laws changed when it affects them.

From my experience, yes, many people choose to look the other way at violations of laws ranging from littering to theft, thinking that it is more of a hassle for them to get involved than to let it go. Also, many people just do not like confrontations in general, and avoid doing the right thing at the moment to stop the offending person. With the evolution of the human brain comes reason, and people often use this reasoning ability to convince themselves that it would be more trouble to do the right thing than to forget about it.

Sometimes it is as simple as values of how people are brought up, or experience--maybe they have seen that justice is unfair and it takes too much effort to seek justice only to find that it is not served...maybe they were let down and therefore choose to give up on any chance to do right rather than to fight harder to see that good is done. It may all come down to internal strength of character, which seems to be diminishing in modern society at an exponential rate as a whole--it is not being passed on from one generation to the next and may soon be extinct if people do not wake up!

I think that during the Clintons presidency breaking the law and having a lack of morals became ok,and people copied them.
