If I need to resign because of a personal medical issue, what can my employer require from me?
Find answers to your legal question.

If I need to resign because of a personal medical issue, what can my employer require from me?

I am a contractor working for a medical contracting company. I have developed a condition that keeps me from doing my work. My contract stipulates 30 days notice, but I am suddenly unable to work. What can the employer request from me? Will they sue me?

You need to review your contract then get your medical doctor to send a letter to your employer describing your conditions and the limitations that you have saying you can't complete your work.

You MUST look at the contract, it will define the terms of your agreement

Unable to work? Like what condition?

You just resign. Espically if your a contractor its easier.

I have read the Question only & not the further explanation because by stating personal medical issues it is exactly that. Medical in Confidence / Confidential. It could be argued that only medical personnel are entitled to your 'Medical in Confidence' information and an Employer cannot demand to see any evidence of this medical matter, well they can demand but not entitled to it. You as the patient reserve the right as to who you share your own personal medical issues with.
Now with having read the remainder you may consider giving your 30 days notice, and see Doc & get signed off sick for that period. Good luck...
