If I quit my job because of child care issues.....?

If I quit my job because of child care issues.....?
Would I qualify for unemployment in CT

I have a 2yr old and 4yr old and no child care

GreenShaman
No you can not, though you can take a Leave of absence for it. Otherwise do things at work to make them fire you and then you will be qualified for unemployment, though them you will have to apply to jobs every so often, and you can either make sure you are horrible in the interview so they don't hire you and you still get unemployment and also if they offer you the job you can turn it down if it is making even one cent less than your previous job and you can still recieve unemployment.

quiting has nothing to do with it................
the determining factors are WHY you quit.

child care is not "cause" to quit a job and draw benefits.

you also must be willing, able and actively seeking employment to draw benefits.

so, to answer your question you probably would NOT qualify but you can file on-line and............
filing is the only way to know for sure.

No, you wouldn't get unemployment. To claim unemployment you have to be available and able to work, and not have quit voluntarily.

No, that is not grounds to qualify for unemployment.

No. Maybe you should try to talk to your employer about working different shifts (if possible) and get some child care.

No, you wouldn't qualify for unemployment, however there are funds available to help you pay for child care with the Department of Human Resources, if you qualify. If that is the reason for not having child care. If you are having trouble finding child care, try your local high school, or church.

Or you can start your own home business and work from home. I am a single mom of 3, I used to work 2 part-time jobs. In june I was able to leave one the jobs. I only work 8-10 hours per week.

ideratherbefishin
Nope, thankfully you don't. Otherwise us CT employers would have to close our business' to pay for you folks that would like to get paid for not working.
Just as an aside you do realize that the people you last worked for for 6 months have to pay for your unemloyment...the money doesn't come from nowhere...it comes from the people who are still working...not really a fair system for us hard working people.

evilattorney
No. Unemployment is not available for voluntary quits.

There are schemes now to help with costs of childcare so you need to investigate those
If your partner/husband is working he can claim for child tax credits , and if you are a single parents there are also benefits available
