Hiring a lawyer for minor legal problems can be expensive, but there are websites like LawGuru, FindLaw and other places where you can get free legal advice. I found this website useful - http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.html

No. Not unless you work six hours or more. And if you work more than six hours...the length of break than depends on what part of the day and your occupation.
However I know of some companies that provide breaks for as little as 4 hours of working time...but that's just their policy.

If you have a union contract...it is what it is....if not it is what your boss says it is. sorry.

You are entitled to two 15 minute breaks, but you might want to check the labor laws in NY because it is sometimes the employers choice and not against the law.
I work 5 hours a day and get two 15 minute breaks I am in IN.
Have you asked HR or checked the employee handbook?
