Well, after two weeks of completing the employer's required provisionary period, I was fired without explanation. They just said that they're sorry and it didn't quite work out. There were no counsellings/evaluation or any personal talk about my performance other than praise for good work from co-workers.

No, there is no law, either federal or state, that says an employer must give you a reason for termination. But it sounds like they did let you know that they feel it wasn't working out. Not specific enough to tell you what wasn't working out, but that something in your employment was not working out.

You need to understand that as an introductory employee they do not have to give you counceling, write ups or any other formal documentation. And even once you complete that introductory period the employer is not required to do any of those things either. Unless they have a provision in your employee handbook that discusses a progressive disciplinary policy for all regular full time employees. (Where they promise a verbal warning, then a written warning, then termination).

As an at-will employer then can let any employee go (regular full time or introductory employee) at any time with or without notice.

In the state of Iowa you can be fired for any reason at anytime. Don't have to tell them why. Yes its polite, but not needed.

the provisionary period is a time for them to evaluate your work and personality..they dont have any obligation to hire you after the period is over...they may have not been satisfied with one or the other but since you stated others took notice of your hard work it may be that they found someone else they want to try out...

No, it really depends on the country you got fired at. Each country has different laws and I know in Australia I got told by a HR officer that it is very much illegal. Laws are constantly changing.

They should have an explanation even if it wouldn't be aganist the law

in all states except Indiana, Maine, Minnesota, and Missouri, your employer is not required to state a reason for termination.

I would go in person to Department of Labor -Wage and Hour Division ot to the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission to report your boss. Tell them both in detail what happened.
