No they can't. Legally all they can state about that is the date you were hired and the date you were fired/ or the last day of employment. However, they may be asked if they would rehire you again, and they can answer that truthfully. |

1. it is the most important information for present employer to get about you.
2. first, they will ask: are you fired by them or, you quit the job? what is the reason?
3. what it your behaivors in previous company? is there serious mistakes?
4. tell present employer the truth why you leave previous company maybe a good trial? sorry, i do not have such experiences during my 18 years' work.
i think this is fair for you and for present company. this will make sure that everybody should behaivor themself wherever they work!
i am from china with 18 years trading experiences. i would like to share it with you if you need.
good luck! |

The only question they can ask your former employer is "would you hire this person back?" --that's really the most important one. They could ask something like, "was this person on time for work?" but the heart of the matter is the first question. They are not allowed to share any other information about you, and most abide by this.
If you had a bad experience at a former employer and you can leave it off, then do so. If you're young and people aren't counting on you to have a work history, then take advantage of that. Also it wouldn't hurt for you to think about why you were let go from the last job and try to learn from that. Be positive in your interview, don't attack a former employer or say you're looking for something better than your last awful job. Stay positive, sell yourself and tell them what makes you perfect for the job. |
